Default Tweeter mounting

Where are you guys mounting your tweeters? My Kicker components don't have grilles to mount the tweeters.

So how are you guys mounting them? I tried a search but came up with nothing.

I just mounted mine where the side mirrors are. THat little triangle piece. Perfect spot. Looks factory and depending on your tweets you can adjust them to what direction you want.

I used the tweeter Pods that SShevy fiberglassed. These fit perfect. The tweeters are aimed at your chest and not at your face. Not sure if he is at LS1TECH but,he was on LS1.com awhile back.

I bought those a while back and totally fuggg'd them up attempting to install them. A complete waste of $85 if you ask me.

I'm looking for tweeter pods as well. I found the perfect speakers and everything. I'm just waiting on the pods. Thing is that I don't know where to get them. There is someone who is on fbodyaudio.com that makes them (also goes to ls1.com I think) but I'm not hearing a lot from that site.

Really want the pods as I really DO NOT want to drill at all.

Drilling the A-Pillars is really no big deal, they were $11 a piece back when I did my old car in like 2001. I only did it because they were $22 to replace once the lease was up, couldn't beat that.

I got mine from the guy on LS1. I think his name was Kevin. Let me see if I can find his contact info.

If you want sound quality, this is the setup. The path legnth differences from the mids and tweets is very minimal. That means they blend together better plus the sound stage is nice and high. I mounted mine there after lots of testing as well. Just have to make sure the tweeters are not too large to fit.

I picked up some extra a-pillars at the salvage yard. Here's how I tested the location and angle.

Thanks guys!

I was toying with the idea of putting them in the little vents that are in the a-pillar trim.

On axis like that will sound like crap. Don't fire them at you. They need to be more off axis. Like aiming the left one more to the right and aiming the right one more to the left in a criss cross pattern.

Ultimately try them mounted and see for yourself. I mounted mine to some flexible pipe hanger and RTV'ed it in place. I could move them around in all kinds of directions while I drove around trying them out. Try that to make sure you like it first.

Good point.

I'll probably try them where you guys have them. )
