Default Sub Question for the gurus

Hey curious if anyone know which would hit harder depth wise and volume wise.. from what i know you can't beat multiple subs for spl but then again the single i'm considering is amazing

so which would be better in a very large volume vehicle

1 12w7
or 2 12w6v2's

I'll match the amp to which ever solution i go with

thanks

Provided we're talking using similar boxes.....there's no replacement for displacement. The two w6v2's out displace the single W7. Both sound damn nice too. If space is no concern, the pair out bump the single in this case.

definitely get the two w6v2s. 2 subs will almost always be louder assuming you get the right amplification and box set ups. BUT if you want some bump in the trunk then get these bad bois.

Go with the 2 12w6v2's. It will be a little louder then the one W7. If you were mostly concerned with SQ, then the one W7 would be the way to go.

Now, what type of music do you mostly listen too? That will determine if you want to port the box, or go sealed. Sealed will have less roll off in the lower octaves then the Ported and sound better for certain types of music.

if you want, I can throw together some curves and graphs's showing freq responses and then simulate the cabin gain. I did that for Andrew (carmoholic) whne we designed his home sub.

Two 12's will be louder than one most of the time. If you want to go with one definately check out Cadence, the Triplexxx is the primo 12 right now. I can promise that it will outsound a w7 and it is much cheaper. With 2 and 2000 watts in my intrepid (leather interior with back seat up) i hit 151.2 dB and 154 with the seats down. They are the way to go if you want loud and distortion free boom.

Total linear excursion of 2 w6s is 33mm
Total linear excursion of 1 w7 is 29mm

Another vote for the 2 w6s.
You will get about the same SPL out of both but the w6s will last longer.

Couple of things to keep in mind guys, will you be running a different amount of power to the W7 vs 2 W6v2? You said you'd match the amp to the subs....

Next, and maybe more importantly, you said you have a very large volume vehicle. It's all in the install. Throw those W6's in a large vented box and that W7 doesn't stand a chance in hell.

the w6v2's will be louder due to an advantage in sd, but i fail to see how they will last any longer. also, the w6v2 is a *slightly* better sq sub.
