Default How does bcm know engine is running?

I've looked at all the wiring diagrams, and I don't see how. I installed an add on remote start. The problem is when it's activated and the engine is running, the factory keyless is disabled by the bcm, and I can't unlock the doors with the remote. I have noticed that the keyless still works with the ign in the run position, so I know the bcm can sense whether or not it's actually running, but I can't figure out how. I need to install a relay or something to interrupt the input to the bcm so the factory keyless will work when the car is remote started. Anyone have any ideas?
