Default Help w/ Speakers!!

I have an 01 SS with stock amp & HU (the HU doesn't have the monsoon logo on it, so I don't know if that makes a diff. a chevy audio specialist told me it doesn't matter as long as I have the amp). I don't have any of the stock speakers so I was wondering what you guys would recommend. Could I only get some decent speakers 4 or 6? along w/ the stock components (HU & amp) to get some good sound?? or any other recommendations that won't cost an arm & leg? Any info would be appreciated.

Yes. There is no difference in the head units with or without the Monsoon logo. If you have the amplifier you have the Monsson system.

As for speakers, I'm sure you'll get lots of different opinions and recommendations on here. But here is what I have in my '02 SS:

DOORS: I have Alpine SPS-170A's in the doors (current model is the SPS-17C2). The stock system drives the tweeters with the head unit, and the woofers with the amplifier. The amplifier has built-in low pass filters, so it only puts out frequencies below 1 or 2 KHz. There are details for modding these to install them in the stock configuration.

SAILS: I have Pioneer TS-M7PRS midbasses. These are the most expensive upgrade I've done so far. I got mine for around $200 shipped.

HATCH: I use Alpine SPS-100A's. The grills back looks like they would take 5x7 or possibly even 6x9 speakers back here. But the stockers are simple 4" midranges. THe Firebirds have a pair of tweeters in addition the mids. Pretty much can't go wrong with any full range speaker. A 4" speaker, like stock would be easiest to install.

Total cost for all my speakers was about $320.
