Default Need some tach help.

Hardcore installed an Autometer Tach on my car and when the car was taken off of the trailer from picking it up from the shop it stopped working. Took the car back to them to fix all the stupid **** they were to busy to do when they had the car and they said the tach was bad and pulled it and sent me another one after a few weeks.
2 weeks ago I pulled the car out of storage and installed the new tach and it would not work. Thinking Hardcore once again tried to pull a fast one on me, I decided to send it directly to Autometer. They sent me a new unit I installed it and it still has the same problem.
I have checked all the sources and they are good. The tach light comes on with the dash lights and I can set the shift light. Which tells me that all of the power souces are good and I verified them with a multi-meter. The RPM source is the 10th pin on the red harness on the PCM and it reads the same voltage at the splice as does in the car where it connects to the tach.
Could this source be bad? It reads .14 volts DC. I'm not sure what it should read. It was enough to power a Harlan shift light. But that has since been removed and I can't verify if it still works. Is there another source I can use for my tach? The factory one is working is there a way to tap into that?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have always gone to the back of the speedo cluster, but you can also grab an injector wire or a coil wire. You should have three wires on each of the coil packs. Two of the wires on each coil will be the same as the others but one will be a different color on each coil, this is the wire you want. That is your control wire.

Thanks for the quick response. Could I use the same wire for my window switch?

Well that helped some. Now it reads about 400 rpm when the factory reads 1000. When you tap off of a coil pack do you need to cut both jumper wires on the tach?

Called Autometer and they said that some tachs needed to be adjusted for the 5 volt square signal off of the PCM and not to tap off of the coil. Now they tell me..
