wiring an amp whats the easiest place in a 99 ls1 camaro to run an 8 guage power wire through the firewall to an amp in the trunk? im fine once i get through the firewall but cant seem to find an easy place to do so
you don't have to go throught the fire wall, there should be a couple rubber gromets in the trunk area that you can make a small cut in and pull the wire through one of those. you all you have to do is run the wire from the battery down to the bottom of the car then just follow the brake lines go OVER the rear axel and into the rubber gromet and in to the trunk it is the easiest way and you won't be able to see the wire from any were in your car. if you need more detailed instructions pm me and i can send you some pics of how i did my car

considered doing this but everything i read says not to run the power wires outside of the car dunno why... its got thick plastic casing ...but im a little hesitant to do it that way. im pretty good at hiding the stuff inside the car anyway its not to hard in these cars
This is in the stickies. There is an existing grommet to feed the wire through on the firewall, under the PCM. Undo 2 bolts, pull the PCM, shove the wire through - it'll be easily seen with your head down in the passenger foot well.
Fuse the wire close to the battery a little more than the amp fuse rating.
You don't run this wire outside of the car because of what could happen should it short out. An 8 gauge wire can carry enough current to cause a fire, destroy your battery, or short out the entire chassis electrical system. The fuse helps protect against this, as does keeping the wire away from any possiblity of movement or sharp edges.
Running an amp power wire outside and under the car has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted. I'm normally not insulting like that but it is inexcusably terrible advice.
