Best place to ground an Amp
Best place to ground an Amp I was just wondering where the best place to ground an amp that would be sitting on the rear deck of my 99 z28. also i just ordered a 7" flipout dvd cd player and was just wondering how hard it is to hook one of those up and if it can be done without taking it in.
Anywhere you can get to bare metal and there is not alot of risk of tearing/jostling the wire around.
I usually use the factory ground for the rear hatch lock, since it's already there.

The best place would be to drill down into the frame rail on the passenger side and bolt the ground there. The latch mechanism is alright but I noticed that it is glued on and only tach welded on 6 or 8 spots. Many people don't have a problem with it but I'm guessing the resistance is higher than using the frame rail. I'll have to measure it some time.
I grounded mine to a large stud under the driver side rear interior panel right under the 4" coaxial. I scuffed up the paint down to the metal around the stud so I could get a good ground. Works for me.
