Default is it OK to mount a small amp vertically next to rear latch

I don't want my amp visable.

first choice. wanted to install under pass. seat (thinking of raising the seat with washers but these seats are real low plus there is electric seat stuff under there) plus when someone sits down there rear end will heatup, good in winter not good in summer.

2nd choice tie wrapping or steel wiring to spare tire but then it would not be exposed to fresh air ? is there enought air in there to keep the amp cool?
(considering cutting a hole an using a factory speaker cover for hole, to cool amp).

3rd turd mounting to outside of spare tire, this would be visable.

4th the rear hatch vertically just next to the rear lid locking latch.

Thanks

The factory amp was mounted (for TAs) in the area infront of the spare tire, have you checked if your amp will fit there? (I dont see a problem with it not getting fresh air unless it gets real real hot...)

no I haven't checked inside there yet.

I will be leaving that stock amp there, only using a sub amp.

The manufactors say's this amp can withstand temps of 185 degrees. but also say's not to install it in a small box (I'm thinking a small box is about the same size of amp)

Alright, hmm... Is the area opposite of the spare tire area free? Or do you have a sub in that corner?

Default sub

sub is in driver side.

I just installed inside spare tire area bolted amp to inside of tire cover used 1/4" nuts as spacers I'm hopping the amp won't burn the plastic cover.

I also removed the rear pass. seat belt so now I have a small hole to keep things cool back there I also reduced weight of car.

any thoughts

Thanks

What amp?

I really don't think it'll be a problem. As long as you don't put the amp in very small space, it is usually just fine. If there is at least an inch or so around the amp heatsinks to breathe it is probably going to be fine.

The one problem I do see is that many amps do not like being mounted upside down. They rely upon the heat rising up away from the board into the heatsinks and out from the amp. Mounting the amp upside down makes the heat rise and stick right back into the board. This can cause more problems than closing the amp in.

You may run into issues with the amp overheating with having almost no ventilation in that area. What brand and model amp are you running and what ohm load to it?

Default amp

aduio acoustics 300watt planning a low pass connection giving 185 rms to the mtx which will take 200rms.

also mounting it vertical which was recommended by adiuo acoutics

hey guy's don't rag on my cheap amp to much, I'm really more into listing to the exhaust. This is just a little bling.

Thanks

With that modest of an amp the air in the spare tire area will probably be just fine. If you can pound on it for an hour or so it's probably never going to give you any problems.
