I remember reading a tutorial about how to hardwire the power cord for a radar detector a while back and was wondering if anyone had a link to that article?
Thanks

I did mine its easy just get some phone wire, splice one wire into power (pink asr / tcs wire if you have it , its ignition controlled 12v) and then you can ground the other to the bolt that holds the bottom part of the center console in. I think the red wire was 12v and the green was ground. Worked great for me, I just ran the wire through the console under the panel under the steering wheel and up the a pillar into the headliner and drop it down where the radar detector is
I can take a picture of my install tomorrow for ya if you want ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
oh also it helps to solder a heavier gauge wire like 18 or 16 onto the end of the phone wire to make it easier to splice into 12v most wire splicers wont take the extremely small gauge that the phone wire is correctly

they sell a hardwire kit for the x50, allows you to remote locate the power light/mute button. that way you don't have to bastardize your 12v adapter plug. it runs about $20 bucks or so .. that is what I have, works great.
