Default speaker install question

so before i **** up these new JL's that i just got. i want to mount them in the front. i was wondering, could i use a cross over? hook the inputs from the amp and the head unit into the input of the crossover, and then go from there, or am i gonna have to do like others have done with the alpines? and cut the wires for the tweeter, and hook them up to the head unit. later down the road, i plan to get rid of the monsoon H.U. i get the jist of HOW to do it, but i just want to make sure that it's correct, before i hackem up.

You don't have to ruin them, just un-solder the tweeter wires from the main connector.

4 stock wires - 4 new connections.

Later on if you go to a regular 4 ohm aftermarket amp setup, you'll just make the connections in parallel again. It's no biggie.

Careful to keep gravity pulling solder away from the speaker. Don't want to drop any on the cone/surround or it's toast.

do you think they'd go better in the doors, or run wire to the sail panels from the 4"'s and puttem in the sail panels?

if you do decide to solder them out make sure you do it fast. The coil cannot take 800+ degree heat for very long without causing damage.

The heat conducted thru the wire to the coil should be less that it would see on hot summer day just baking in the car. Unless you hold the soldering iron on there for several minutes.
