Default '98 Camaro Cluster

This may sound dumb but, I'm wondering would it be possibble to retro fit a 1998 gauge cluster into a 2000 Camaro? As I understand it, the '98 Camaros had a "real" temp gauge and I'm not interested in adding other aftermarket gauges to the interior. Other than hooking a temp probe up and getting the mileage to read correctly, is there anyone that can explain to me what other installation hurdles I might run into?

Thanks.

The 98 cluster is looking for different signals that a 98 PCM provides. I know you cannot just hook up a temp probe because the PCM is a middle man.

The rest of the cluster may well work, but I know for sure that this is not a feasible path to get a working temp gauge. You are pretty much stuck with using an aftermarket sending unit and gage if you want that in a 99+.

nope 99 up clusters use serial data communication for a few warning lights and the gauges. Do not try it or you will kill a good cluster.
