Default I POD to Aftermarket HU

Is there a hookup that hardwires directly to your car with an aftermarket HU? Im getting an I POD soon, but I want to make sure it will be able to hardwire directly. Because all the fm modulators suck!! All my friends have them and regret having them.

Also I already have a subwoofer installed in the car if that would make any difference on whether not it will work.

How you connect an iPod (or any auxiliary device) to an aftermarket radio depends on the brand of radio. Many of them have auxiliary input capability that consists of a couple of RCA jacks. Some have proprietary connections that provide extra features like being able to control the device from the head unit controls.

The adapter you mention should work with any JVC head unit that has auxiliary input capability. It won't affect any of your other connections (sub, etc.) but you won't be able to control the iPod from the deck (other than volume, tone, balance). You'll have to select songs and playlists from the iPod itself.

Another option would be JVC's own KS-PD100 adapter for the iPod if you have a compatible model of their head unit. Most 2005 and 2006 JVC systems with CD changer controls will work. This adapter integrates the iPod with the radio so that you can change songs and playlists from the radio and even see the titles on the radio display allowing you to put your iPod someplace out of sight like in the glovebox. It's more expensive (about $100) but the added convenience may be worth it.

I actually kinda like changing the songs on the IPOD itself, plus I couldnt go the other route because my HU is about 3 years old and that device works on 2005 and 2006 models. Thanks for the help though I realy appreciate it. I found out that on some adapter you cant change the song while its plugged in, do you know if this is true.
