Default Re-wiring highbeams

I dont if it can be done, but I want to re-wire either the low beams or the high beam. My goal is to have the low beams stay on when I activate the high beams. Does any one have this mod? Any info would be great.

I did it when I first got the car and after using it for about 2 months something happened to where the leadwire burnt up (Fuse didn't blow). I think it may have been pulling too much power for the size wire I used (12 ga) as I had the high beams w/ 70 watt bulbs, low beams w/ 60 watt bulbs plus the fog lights all on it (aprox 280-300 watts).

This is what I did:

Buy a relay kit for fog lights. Wire the power to the power pole on the driver side (has a red cover towards the front of the car). Find a near by bolt for ground. Run a wire from the power side of the highbeams to the relay as your arming switch. Then run the power out to you power side of the low beams. I used wire taps so nothing was cut.

Now one thing came to mind after mine fried. I went to do the free fan mod several months later and was going to do it basicaly the same way but run a switch in to the car to run the fans. Some one told me I would fry the wiring because you have to activate a ground on the fan relays to get the fans to work. I did it their way and the fans work great.

My thought is the lights some how may need to be grounded instead of putting power to them. I have not made the time to research it as of yet. Please keep us posted if you give it a try..

yes it is possible. i did it for both my high beams and for the fog lights, now when i turn my high beams all 6 light come on. it has been this way for over 5 months and have had no problems. this is what i did ( if i remember correctly) i got a relay , ram a wire from the high beams and a wire from the low beams to the relay. basically what you have to do is when the high beams are activated it will activate the coil in the relay and close the connection. the connection is made up of the low beam wire and a 12v constant. this was the low beams are on when the high beams are on. the last wire on the relay needs to be a ground. you can do the same exact same thing for the fog lights.
sorry about the vagueness on the relay info, if you want better instructions email me and ill go out to my car and draw a god diagram with the number on the relay and the wire colors.
good luck
