Default Need info on how to get to the ignition tumbler and switch.

I need to get to the tumbler and try to solder a wire back to a contact according to another board member.
So, how do I get the tumbler out? How can I avoid setting off the airbag? Has anyone ever worked on the tumbler or ignition switch?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback, I plan on doing this on saturday.

Steve,
From what I saw the airbag circuit is not plugged into the ignition switch. I have the column out in my garage and will take a closer look at it tonight or tomorrow to give you a better idea.

The little wire you are thinking about soldering is not worth the time. For the effort it takes to get the ignition cylinder out, you are better off just replacing it.

Mine broke and kept a security light on my dash all the time. I had a friend of mine do it that works for a chevy dealer. I would not recommend doing the swap if you have never done it before without proper supervision.

hope that helps.
