cd player install
I have told and have seen other guys with it done, that you can put an after market cd player in and maintain, steering wheel controls, and cd changer controls, and all you have to do is by pass the monsoon amps, how is this done, the whole process?
unfortunatley part of what you have heard is incorrect.
You can install a new headunit, and keep the steering wheel controls. (PAC makes an adapter to do this, so does sound gate)
Unfortunately, you do not keep CD changer capability.
also, you do not bypass the monsoon amp easily, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
If you want that bypassed, you need new speakers, and new wires. and a new amp, or just wire it to your new deck. The monsoon system, and CD changer controls, and Steering wheel controls are not connected. As far as the monsoon system knows, the stock deck is still powering it, as it uses the standard metra harness for 90% of 89+ GM vehicles.
The deck controls the changer, and the SWC's.
