Autometer Tach question

I know you are supposed to run the Tach in 4 cyl. mode, but there are 2 choices. Cut the orange wire for 2 pulse systems, cut the orange and brown wires for 1 pulse systems. Anyone know which is the right one?

Good question as I was never to get my tach to work either but does anyone know as I think that mine might be a defective tach..I would be nice if it was not though... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I just cut a brown wire for mine John.

You'll notice that when it's not righ it reads half of the rpms that it should.

I just looked at the instructions again, if you cut the brown that is 3 pulse, for v-6's. I saw someone else cut both the orange and brown wires and it worked. I just want to verify before I start hacking. Those are awfully short wires to solder back together!
