the factory monsoon subs keep blowing The speakers that are located where the passengers in the back seats ears would be, keep on blowing. The ones that only produce bass. I was wondering if I could just replace them with a JL Audio free air 8 inch sub on each side( will they be able to be a direct replacement for the factory speakers), or if I should add a box and amp in the trunk. If I did add a box in the trunk I would want one that does not block the storage area for the t-tops, should I have a custom enclosure made that will fit on the back rack behinde the rear seat under the glass hatch or do you guys recommend a mass produced box like one from q-logic. I have heard that the q-logic boxes are not the best in terms of quality. What do you guys think I should do? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Re: the factory monsoon subs keep blowing Nobody makes a direct replacement for those subs, since they are 6.75" dual-voice coil subs. They are also 2 ohm when both voice coils are in parallel wiring (dual 4 ohm coils).

I'd highly recommend an RS-series 8" Bazooka tube. I bought one for my GMC and it sounds great, it actually hits pretty hard for a little 8" woofer. It was simple to hook up, easily removable, and only weighs 20 lbs total with its built-in 150W amplifier. I paid $219 from www.NowOnSpecial.com and received it in less than a week.

Re: the factory monsoon subs keep blowing Mine blew as well, but i have 2 10 inch MTX subs in the rear so im not worried about bass. What i did, was replace those 6 3/4's with infinity kappa 6 3/4's, the woofer is wired up like normal to that channel, but i ran some wires to the rear speakers to get a tap on the tweeters. Yeah yeah, you all will probably say that i reduced the ohm rating.. but who cares, it sounds awesome. Now that there are highs coming from all over the car, it gives a total sound. Its awesome. Heres my setup.. Far Rear: Infinity Kappa 5x7's Center: Infinity Kappa 6 3/4's Front Door: Infinity Kappa 6 3/4's... Two MTX 10" Subs in the rear. Factory monsoon deck and amp... sounds absolutely awesome.
