I've run my system without a capacitor for a while and when I noticed the head lights dimming on the bass notes I added a 1 Farad Capacitor. Well it fixed the problem at the time. I have since added a underdrive pulley and it worked ok for about 2 month's. During that time while moving some stuff in my trunk I shorted out the cap and completely discharged it. I recharged it and everything appeared to be ok. Now when the air is on or when the bass notes hit, my volt meter drops down into the 10's and then comes back and this is even with an overdrive alternator pulley. Is my battery about to take a ****, alternator or is the capacitor bad because of the short? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to cap your chrome muffler bearing, while installing some Leapord skin seat cover and steering wheel cover, and getting the Peacock feather for yours furry hat...Pimp <img border="0" alt="[pimp]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_pimp.gif" /> Hope that helps with the Problem... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Marc, all capacitors wear out, they all have different rates of decay though. Shorting it out may have damaged it and shortened its life.
Dimming on bass notes, I'd have to go with the cap since it is supposed to be storing backup power specifically for those surges.
BTW, Hyde's replies here are just about the most technical I've ever seen from him <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks Tony, I figured as much..I just didn't want to go buy a new battery or capacitor or both without knowing what was up. Hell I played around enough with them in school I should've known better. Hyde thanks for your technical rendition of a crack head..LOL stay off that yak playa!
