Converting from tape HU to cd HU

Converting from tape HU to cd HU I had the stock head unit (cassette player) with the factory 12 disc changer and just switched
to a newer model gm head unit with the single cd. The head unit sees and plays the single cd
fine, but I can't seem to get the head unit to see the 12 disc changer. Did I install this
incorrectly? or should I have done something different?
The older tape head unit is from a '98 camaro and the newer cd head unit is frfom a '00 camaro

Re: Converting from tape HU to cd HU I think the 2001 ans 2002s are the only ones that'll control the changer also, but only the 10 disk not the 12 disk the older models had. I too tried this. Do you still have the CD HU? Would you sell it? Does it work? I got one from another guy a couple months ago. He sent it to me, without any payment(I bought stuff before from people and it didn't work when I got it and they wouldn't return my money.I explained my fear to him and he trusted me).He sent it US postal mail. He said it came from a 1998 Z28 and was in his closet for a few months. I received it, plugged it in and it played the radio but said ERR when I tried a CD. I went to BEST BUY and got a cleaning kit and cleaned the player, but that didn't help, it wouldn't play any of my CDs. So I sent it back to him(cost me $10.00 shipping, but it cost him $10.00 to ship it to me, so we both were out $10.00 to find out his player didn't work. I thought it was really cool of him to send it to me on good faith like that. I ghave him all my info(home address, home phone, work address, work phone, emails, everything.)
