Alarm problems!
Alarm problems! When I arm my alarm, the fog lights and brake lights flash, well the other day i was locking my car and i noticed that the lights were not flashing. I played with it some and it seems like the alarm isnt working properly. When I arm the alarm, the doors still lock, and the alarm still beeps, but the lights dont flash, and the little red "alarm" light will flash for a few seconds, then it quits and doesnt flash anymore <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> .
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it? I think its an aftermarket Alpine alarm, that was on the car when i bought it. If anyone has any ideas what it could be i would love to hear it. Oh yea I am no good with electronics so try to explain in laymans(sp?) terms.

Re: Alarm problems! As of September 26,2002 around 2:00pm My Factory alarm went off for no aparent reason. when I arm the alarm it locks the doors, lights flash, and horn blows. But about 3-4 seconds afterwards when the alarm is actually armed it goes off. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> The only thing I can do is to keep the doors unlocked and I do not like that at all. All i know is it is really aggrivating and I would like to know if someone knows anything about this kind of problem. I have an aftermarket Silencer Electronic key thing on my car. I have not had this problem till now and I have had the Silencer on the car since I have had it. Someone please help me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> before I go crazy. My car is basically brand new (1 month old) and my alarm just started acting crazy all of a sudden. Its in my garage but it goes off every 20 minutes. There is no one around it and no cars passing by. Its driving me crazy <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: Alarm problems! The shock sensor on these cars is in a horribly stupid location. It's on the passenger side in the back. When you open your hatch (if it's wet) water runs off the hatch and into a drain trough. If the trough overflows at all, it runs straight down onto the sensor. Take the sensor off and pry it open(don't be afraid, they're not very complicated) clean it out with alcohol and put it back together. This time seal the thing. The adjustment **** for sensitivity is on it also.
