Sounds to me like the relay for the heater is starting to go bad... After being used for a short time, it heats up too much and dies.. then its ok after some time... check the relays in your interior fuse panel.. worth replacing a 50 cent relay.. if that doesnt work.. then it'll take futher diagnosis...

My rear defroster has been dead for about 2 years now. I took it to the dealer. They told me it was a "defroster switch". I didn't feel like going back to get it fixed. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix? My warranty is now up. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I am working on this same problem myself. I switched the 2 30 amp fuses in the fuse panel and It worked ok today so I'll see how it works tomorrow. The breaker seems to get very hot but I dont know if thats normal or not.

The breaker, by the way that I switched with was the window motor breaker. And the windows work well with the defroster breaker, go figure???

Lets keep in touch on this problem. I'll let chas know what I find out.

I got it!
I put a 30 amp fuse in instead of the 30 amp breaker.
I then put a DC amp meter on the line at the fuse and it shows 24 amps. I now know that the system is ok because after checking I let it go through its 10 min run time and the amps never went over 25. Yes it ran its full 10 min!!!!

The 30 amp breakers dont seem to run to good for this defroster??? It says Wagner on the breaker so I doubt if its factory so I will try a factory 30 amper one.

Meanwhile the 30 amp fuse works well and yes it does share the circuit with the electric seats.
