adding an amp to factory h/u?
I know that this can be done by using a pac module, but those things are pricey. I might as well buy a new h/u for the cost of the pac.
I seem to recall someone talking about splicing into the factory wiring and using a line-level converter. I also remember someone saying something about using two factory wiring harness. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
russ

the module you need is the Pac Oem1 GM21c
Crutchfield.com has them.
for splicing and adding a LOC You need a good 1 or youll get noise in your system.

Crutchfield only seems to sell the oem-2. I'm not familiar with how this connects.
If I do get the pac LOC what wires would I tap into. I'm assuming I'd just splice into the rear speaker wires (at the radio of course). I would still retain the funcionality of the rear speakers, but I'd also have a set of rca outputs for my amp. Sound right?

-Actually, I just looked at my amp and it has a built in LOC. I guess I'll just splice into the rear speaker wiring at the rear speakers and run it to the amp. I'll give it a try and if it doesn't work than it's the pac system.
Thanks again,
Russ
So it turns out the poweracoustik LOC is crap! I would definitely appreciate it if you could get a price for me GMNightmare <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> Looks like I'll be adding a GOOD LOC right behind the radio.
Do you happen to know which wires to tap into for the rear output?
Thanks,
Russ
