Default Very Important Shift Light Install Question!!!

I have a question about the installation of my Harlan Shift Light. In step 12, install university tells me to torque the screws for the PCM to 70 in-lbs +/- 17 in-lbs. Here in lies my problem: I do not have a torque wrench that measures in in-lbs. I have one that measures in ft-lbs. It would cost me $50 for the cheap one, and $200 for a good one. I DO NOT have that much money free for a wrench I will barely ever use. So here is my question: is this correct logic...I could use my ft./lbs. torque wrench. Each ft./lbs is equal to 12in./lbs. Basically, for every 1 foot long rod applying 1 lb. That means, to get a one inch rod to apply the same force, I would need 12 lbs. So what I'm saying is this: I can apply 5.833 (70/12) ft./lbs. with your torque wrench +/- 1.42 ft./lbs. or pressure (17/12).

However, my torque wrench was not expensive ($30), and it has some variablity to its measurements.

Install university makes it sound like this is very important...how important is it? Could I just tighten snug with my wrench?

What did you guys do?? Thanks Everyone. I know that this post is painful to read!! <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />

I didn't even have to take the screws off. I just put masking tape on the hood hinge to prevent scratching and it slid out by just working on it a little.
