Crappy horns ... wft ...:(

Crappy horns ... wft ...:( What are you guys doing about your horns? The low pitch horn crapped out in my 99 SS about 1 year ago and I never fixed it, but the 00 WS6 has had the low pitch replaced under warranty 3 times now, and just went out again. The warranty is over next month, so I need to figure out a way to keep these horns from going bad. I was thinking some type of a shield to keep the water from drowning it(I think thats what causes it). I haven't had a chance to look though since we just got 6-8 inches on snow Xmas morning...but its all gone now!
Re: Crappy horns ... wft ...:( I have had my horns replaced twice so far on my 00. I guess it's just a way for some one to make money. I dont think they last very long.Havent had any trouble with water though. If you want a lower pitched horn try Auto zone my friend with a 00 Trans Am just replaced his and it doesnt sound wimpy anymore.

Re: Crappy horns ... wft ...:( I, like you guys, have had some horn problems and if you're like me then you are fed up with it. I finally reached my lasdt straw one day and I went to the Ferrari dealer in my area and bought a set of Ferrari air horns. The Ferrari service department mounted them for me and I love them. no problems at all and they really make heads turn.

The Ferrari air-horn idea sounds good, no pun intended. I live about 15 miles from a Ferrari dealer. Did they kind of look at you funny when you proposed this idea or? How much were the horns and installation if you don't mind my asking? Where did they end up mounting it? Thanks in advance.

Re: Crappy horns ... wft ...:( The airhorns from Ferrari where I got them were $150.00. One of the salesmen is a buddy of mine so he hooked me up with a set of horns that came out of a F355 for $50.00. They installed them right next to and kind of behind the engine coolant cap. I got a couple laughs but hey! Total instal was about $125.00. That was a "friendly" price that i got.
