Speakers I have a 2000 Z28 A4, and a while back I noticed that all but one of my speakers (right rear) are blown. I went to Best Buy to get some replecement speakers, but the guys there told me that GM uses 8 ohms for their unit set up, and all replacement speakers anywhere uses just 4 ohms. They went on to tell me that I would have to get a new radio and completely rewire the system to make it worthwhile. Is this true?, if so why in the heck would GM make a system like this in the first place. If not true, what other recourse do I have? Thanks!!

Re: Speakers I don't know about the 4 speaker system but it's true for the monsoon system. Makes it a PITA if you want to replace the speakers. You can get GM replacements or you can add an aftermarket h/u and re-wire everything. The stock unit sucks anyway so you really would like the improvement if you decide to replace it.
Note, the above is true for the monsoon but I have no clue about the 4 speaker system. You could try to measure the resistance of the speakers yourself to see what impedance they are.
