You might have a loose ground, or your voltage regulator can be shorting out. Try a volt test on the car and see what voltage the battery and alternator are producing.

you know how, when you get in your car on a real cold day start your car and your voltage reads really high, sometimes even up to 16 volts. Remember part of ohms law, heat= resistance. The flickering lessons as the engine warms up your engine bay along with the altenator. I don't know for sure, but I would bet my bottom dollar the problem is coming from the regulator built in to the altenator. The strange thing is usually the regulator either works or doesn't. Meaning either the field is on all the time (bad)or not all (also bad). Check the plug going into your altenator, it's possible that the regulator wire has come loose in the plug itself and is bouncing around causing the strange field activity. If that plug is solid, it's time to warranty the altenator.

just took my car to the dealer to have alternator
replaced, due to the same problem (light flickering). I got tired of watching my gauges flicker and with my car it was never temp, rpm, speed related it just happen when it wanted to happen. It was a faulty internal regulator. Good thing I had it fixed, getting ready to installed xenon light "HID" and I will hate to see that flickering with those nice lights
Good luck, and if you need to buy one stay away from any cheap brand that "vato zone" and orielly have, go with A/C delco I've had good luck with them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
