dvd player I want a dvd player in my SS but I don't know which one to get. I originally wanted a headunit that the LCD screen slid out of and the dvd player was the HU. I liked the idea that everything was incorporated right into the HU rather then have a seperate dvd player and screen. I think the DVD/CD/screen/HU was about $1500 or so. My buddy has a Pioneer CD HU that plays mp3,cd,cdr, and cdrw. He also has a 7 inch Pyle LCD screen. He is using his PS2 to play DvDs and the combo looks pretty good! He took off his rear view mirror and has the screen mounted to the upper windshield near the rearview. He has a bracket,lets the monitor fold up, but hasn't installed it yet. I was just curious if anyone has some good pics of different set-ups like these two I mentioned. He got his HU and monitor for about $550, as opposed to $1500+ for the other set-up. I have a PS2 and a Xbox to use.
Re: dvd player The ONLY way I'd use one of those in-dash units would be if I could get it that cheaply. If you've got a console that plays DVD's, I say use it and get an LCD module for your screen. www.partsexpress.com has a good selection. I'm thinking about making a flip-down screen, they have a picture on the website of an idea like that. Should cost no more than $250 for everything.

Re: dvd player I have the 7300DVD by pioneer (the all in one unit). But haven't had time to put it in my z yet. So I don't have any pics. But to let you know, the HU with the screen that flips out (as my HU does)as a brain that controls everything that is a separate unit and is quite big. It not just a HU and your done. I have it in my rodeo right now and it took me about 4 hours to put it in and run all the cables.
If you have the cash I would suggest it, but if yuor on a budget then get a screen and run your ps2 or xbox. You will need an fm-modulator to run the audio through your stock headunit though.

Re: dvd player I have the 6400CD by Pioneer. The head unit's great. Does not play MP3's, however, so, here's what I did. On the rear deck, I have a PS2. The controllers are in the console box. I cut a small hole in the bottom rear of the box to run the controller extensions through, so I can unplug them and take them out if I feel like it, but the plug-ins are mounted in the console box. In the glovebox, I have a small DVD player that I purchased on ebay for $129. It plays all the MP3's, VCD's, SVCD's, etc. The IR extensions for the remote are mounted under the glove box.
