Default headlight ?

so... i've done a search, and i can't find info on this. if someone can tell me, or give me a link, how do you set it up so that the headlights and fog lights are on when the highbeams are turned on?

and wheres the night time sensor? to keep the car in "night" mode all the time.

Here's a thread that explains setting up the fog lights to stay on when using high beams. Note that the first post explains how to do it on a Firebird and a later post adds information for the Camaro.

The automatic headlight sensor is located on top of the dash at the right side of the defroster vent (next to the alarm LED). It's a photocell that varies resistance depending on the amount of light hitting it. Zero resistance means full daylight and increasing resistance means darker conditions.

If you want to disable the automatic headlights you just short the two sensor leads together so that the system thinks it's daylight all the time. The easiest way to do that is to get a ScotchLock connector and crimp onto the two leads.

If you want headlights on all the time then do the opposite - disconnect the wires from the sensor so that it reads infinite resistance and thinks it's dark all the time.

I'll assume you have a Camaro since Firebirds have low beams on with high beams from the factory. There is a wiring kit from Painless that will do this for you (it's listed for GM pickup trucks but it works on Camaros).

However, it's actually very easy to do yourself. All you need is a short piece of wire (14 gauge or thicker would be good) and a couple of ScotchLock connectors. Under the dash on the left side of the steering column you will find an 11-pin single-row connector (not all 11 pins are used). Just forward of that you will see a smaller square connector plugged into the column. It has three wires - light green, tan, and yellow. Use your short piece of wire to connect the yellow wire to the tan wire (don't disconnect or cut either wire, just splice them together). This will allow the low beams to remain on whether the dimmer switch is in the low or high position. It basically duplicates the way Firebirds are wired.
