Best GPS/DVD HU?

Best GPS/DVD HU? Well, the Alpine IVA-D300 is DOA. Soooo... what do you guys think? Thought about the Pioneer AVIC units but don't like the whole crap about the DVD unit using the gyroscope to detect movement.
Don't need the flaming about "not watching movies while driving". Honestly rarely would ever have a movie on, but I hate it when MY stereo doesn't do what I tell it too..
I also noticed that the AVICs only have 1-2v preouts. What really is the quality difference in a head to head comparison to 4-5v? Looking to spend around 2 grand here
