Default Stereo wiring harness problems

I was replacing my old headunit that came with my car wiht a new 1 i bought and noticed that who ever put the 1 in had cut the stock plug and spliced the wires so now i have a mess of wires all over the place. My question is can i just buy the section of my cars wiring harness for the radio and speakers or would I have to replace the entire harness. I have a 95 formula with the 10 speaker sounds system, radio control buttons on the steering wheel and power antena if that helps.

im not really sure what your saying when you say "My question is can i just buy the section of my cars wiring harness for the radio and speakers or would I have to replace the entire harness".
You could either hardwire the new radio in like the old radio was.. just using the new radios plug and hard wiring to the factory wiring, not using the harness adaptor you baught. also you could buy the gm 1988 and up reverse harness, which would be the same as the factory plug, and put it back in. then youde use the harness adaptor you baught to plug into that and then connect to wires from the radios harness.

The power antenna should be in that harness, although the steering wheel controlls wont be, those would need an adaptor like the pac swi-x unless you already have it. If you are going to use that adaptor the radio you are putting in needs to support a remote

I think he's asking if can he buy just the connector with pigtail to replace the one that was hacked off the original factory radio harness. The answer is yes, GM sells the connectors as replacement parts. There are eight different ones that have different number of pins in them depending on what was originally in the car. It would be easier (and probably cheaper) to buy the GM reverse harness mentioned above to do the same thing.

Any decent stereo shop should have the reverse harnesses for most makes and models and if they don't they can order it for you. I worked at best buy and we carried the harness you need.
