Default Monsoon HU Questions

I've read that the Monsoon HU (CD) needs to be unlocked for each specific car, is this true? For example, if I were to purchase a used HU that belonged to a 98-02 TA from a member here would I have to go to the Dealership and get it unlocked? Next question, do all 98-02 Monsoon HU work with the Delco 12 disc changer? This is for a 1998 TA. The previous owner only had the Monsoon Cassette option, then later switch out the HU with a cheap aftermarket CD player (which doesn't work with the disc changer). Thanks for any help.

Man, these questions get asked and answered a lot...the search function is your friend.

The short answers are no they don't need to be unlocked unless they were specifically locked by the previous owner before removal, and no not all head units support the CD changer - all cassette HUs do but only 2000 and newer CD HUs do.

I did search, but I suppose not good enough. Thanks for the info though!
