Advice on which speaker would be better for my application?
My driver's side sail panel "sub" has blown. Seems it's a common thing for that one speaker to go, not really sure why.
I do plan to add a stealth box in the back with it's own amp later, and eventually replace the head unit as well, but that's not for now. I just want to get back to brand new status again.
I found the GM replacement for $45 shipped from gmpartsdirect, but, since this speaker going seems overly common, and since I found some that should be at least as good for about $30 more, I started looking at aftermarket replacements.
So, my choices have boiled down to the Polk DB650, or Sony XS-V1642A. Both are 6.5" speakers. And a 3rd option is the Polk DB675.
On paper, the specs of the Sony are better than the DB650s. Same 92dB sensitivity, but 35-22Khz vs the DB650's 40-22Khz. By itself, probably not enough to decide, but the Sony's are $79, and the Polk's are $99.
In another thread someone said that those Polks had a "warm" sound and were good on the low end (for their size of course), so that enters into it to.
Any advice? Anyone familiar with that Sony speaker? I like both company's products in general, but the paper specs plus price is making me lean toward the Sony.
However, I wanted to ask here as well. With the signals they will be receiving based on their location (/Monsoon amp feeds), and with the current lack of a real sub, and otherwise stock system (on a stock exhausted car), for listening to all kinds of music (mostly metal, but rap, dance, jazz, blues, everything, I do like a deep warm but clear sound for jazz and blues and thump for rap, dance, industrial and metal).
Ideally, I shoudl replace everything, and I will, eventually. But, I just want to maximize my dollar right now since I *have* to buy at least one speaker.

(If the 650s are better than the Sony's I'll bump up to the 675s. If the Sony's are better than the 650s, even if they are not as good as the 675s, I'll still get the Sony's.)
