question about wires

Default question about wires

so i got drive and play for christmas and i want to hardwire it into my car, but i need to know where the wires i need to splice into are...

i need the battery ad the ground, which im sure ill be able to find

but i need to cut into the ignition wire too... is that a certain color or what should i look for?

What is a "drive and play"? Does it actually use 12v? If it uses a power converter to change the voltage, don't forget it when hardwiring.

If its not a power hog, you can tap into the power wires leading to the radio. Thats how I connected my XM receiver. Check out this sticky: https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/612644-monsoon-faq.html (scroll down to the third post)

drive and play is an ipod connector to your radio made my harmon kardon


it has a screen and special remote and yada yada

im just more worried about finding the ignition wire

Do you have any interest in a wired-FM setup? I just bought this for christmas, and I got the wired-FM adapter that plugs inline between the radio and the antenna. It's basically like using the Antenna port as an Aux-port.....

You mean a wire that only has power when the ignition is on? Im defaulting to programmer speak.....return to post #2. Connecting that way will also give you the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) feature.
