Default Speaker Wiring question

the 4" component speakers in the rear hatch have 2 wires + and - for each the tweeter and woofer. I was going to hook up a set of 6 1/2" 2 way speakers so i only need 2 wires i was wondering if anybody knows which 2 from the component set i hook up or if i need to hook up all 4. there is no crossover from what i can see anywhere near the speakers.

also does anyone know where the amp is located for the delco systems.

any help would be appreciated

The tweeter inputs come directly from the head-unit. While the 4"mids are driven by the Monsoon Amp. There are no crossovers for these speakers as far as I know. I'd try hooking up one pair of wires and then the other to determine which inputs sound better to you.

The amplifier is mounted to the passenger side rear quarterpanel, behind and forward of the spare tire.

Thanks that makes sense, the speakers i'm sure have capacitors on them acting as crossovers which is why i didn't understand the 4 wires but since some come from the amp i understand now.

I just wonder if anyone has just used the wiring and replaced the factory amp with another. I'm sure somebody has done it out there not?

I suppose it's possible somebody might have done that (there's no accounting for what some people will do) but it's not a great idea. First, the amp is the best part of the entire Monsoon system. You get much better results replacing the head unit and/or the speakers instead of the amp. Second, the amp is physically small and takes speaker-level input - it can be difficult to find a replacement to fit in the same place and use the factory wiring. If you're determined to replace the amp then you should do it right and rewire rather than trying to reuse the factory wiring.
