Aftermarket head unit?
Aftermarket head unit? Will a aftermarket radio affect the way my monsoon sounds? Will the bass be as good as the stock unit? I like the way my stock unit sounds but the lights on most of the button are out and my CDs are starting to skip a lot. I just want the same sound.
The Stock Delco HU is not that great. Just replacing the HU with an aftermarket HU will sound so much better. Also, you will have more functions to tailor the sound to your liking.
Yes that is correct..the head unit is the reason that speakers blow so easy with the monsoon system..the head unit sends out a distorted signal to the speakers and they blow..when you replace the head and substitute a better signal without the distortion the sound from your speakers will be much improved..you really willnot beleive the difference...and you wil not be blowing speakers all the time..

Sorry to hijack but I heard that if I was to replace my head unit with an aftermarket then I would have to replace all monsoon speakers too. It was something about the 2 ohm stock speakers. Someone please tell me that these people are wrong.

If you want to only replace the monsoon headunit then just replace it. All you need is a mounting kit and a wiring harness. The Monsson headunit is just a regular GM headunit. The amp and speakers are what make it a Monsoon system. The headunit feeds the amp with speaker-level outputs and the amp powers the speakers. There are some differences between the Firebird and Camaro, but thats it in a nutshell. Its all in the stickies and countless threads.

Yeah it a aftermarket head unit (pioneer premier) and if you do ever decide to get an amp it will make it even easier to hook them up with an aftermarket HU. Plus the stock HU's suck compared to aftermarket ones.
The Pioneer head unit that I am using is 4 ohm and the monsoon speakers are 2 ohm .. they will work fine..mine sound great..I replaced my door speakers with Infinity Kappa 6.5 inch 3 way speaker that are 2 ohm just like the factory monsoon speaker were..
