Default Need New sail panal speakers

I need some help i need to replace my sail panel speakers with new ones and i have been doing a lot of research and i want to find the right pair of midbass speakers, what do you guys recomend, i have heard the pioneers are good, and that it doesn't really matter if you get the midbass or coaxils because the monsoon and will only send bass to the speaker, so what speaker do you guys recomend. thanks a lot

Honestly if you are leaving the stock wiring in place, it wont matter a whole lot what speakers go in because IMO the monsoon amp puts out a horrible mid-bass signal. If you want a nicer speaker, go with some of the cheaper MB Quart mid-ranges.

well here is a question, i have seen some midrange speakers with a crossover like a component set, but with out the tweeters, now can i use that speaker? I had the Alpine type r component in my last car with an amp on it, i just want to make sure it will work before i spend the money on a speaker. What model MB Quart would you reccomend?

I don't know about the MB Quarts. I Have Pioneer TS-M7PRS mid basses in my sails. I think they are great. But, $185 may be more than you want to spend. THe ALpine Type R's you have will probably work fine back there. ALthough you may have to adjust the fade to balance it out, depending on what you have in the doors. I have the Alpine Type S coaxials up front and in the rear hatch area.

As far as hooking up component speakers, just discard the tweeter and crossover. The sail channels are internally crossed intheMonsoon amp.

Contrary to what jlarsen said, according to several sources on here, the Monsoon amplifier is the best part of the Monsoon system. A perfectly adaquate amplifier if given a clean input signal. The distortion comes from the head unit, which might be betterthan an average stock head, but very poor compared to what's available aftermarket. I've only kept it because I like the stock look.

When some MFR comes out with a 1.5 or 2 DIN head unit I like, I'll probably replace the whole systems (excluding the Pioneers I have in the sails).

If I remember correctly, I got them from these guys:

http://www.audio-n-more.com/Merchant..._Code=TS-M7PRS

I had to try 3 online stores to find them in stock. But that was over 18 months ago. Was about $200 shipped.

Here's another choice:

http://audiovideodimension.com/index...4&currency=USD

They are shown as $164.99. A real deal if they're legit.

I used the alpine type r component speakers in mine without the tweater and it definately sounds better than stock but it could stand to have an amp.

So, a 2 Din head unit will fit a 4th gen camaro? Has anyone got a pic? I think i saw a 2-din unit somewhere i might like to install in my '99 z.

No problem. What I meant is that there have been several who have modified their dash to fit double DIN head units. It seems that it is much easier in a Firebird than a Camaro but both have been done. A search should turn up several threads that include pictures.
