Default how good/crappy is this radar detector?

i just got a whistler 1730 for free from my aunt...

it was free so im not expecting much...

im gonna eventually get a bel-tronics or i might save up the extra cash for the v1...


and believe me i know "u get what u pay for"

well its not going to hurt to have it in the car but i don't know how much its going to help. my friend runs one of them in his s-10 and i notice it doesn't alert half as soon as my Excort Passport X80 does. In short i wouldn't rely on it but it will probably help some.

yeah ive had it for a week now, and have only seen one cop shootin radar on the other side of a wooded area (very well hidden).. it gave me the heads up a few seconds befor i saw him.. i had enough time to check my speed, and if i was speeding i would have been able to drop 10mph or so befor he would see me.. deff good for the price.. im trying to find a valentine for under 300...if i do its mine
