Ive always liked JL but I have never heard the W1 series.
The best thing you can do is go to your local audio shop and have a listen yourself

 

my buddy has two of these in his explorer matched with the jl amp that goes with it. but if you want unmatched sound just get a w7. i had 5 different systems that i wasnt happy with then finally got a 12w7 and couldnt be happier

 

I got my 10W3V2 for 125 new so I would say that is no deal for 110. The 10W3V2's sound great though. I have 2 of them in my 02.
