Yes, it would be worth it. Most of the noise you get is not from the top, but from the floorpan and sides of the car. (Same as all cars.) There is some additional noise that comes through the cloth top, but that's just not where the majority of the noise is coming from.
I gutted and lined mine and it is noticeably quieter than stock. I have a single layer over most of the car. On the floor of the trunk, I put two layers figuring it wouldn't hurt. Then the doors, I lined both outside and inside panels. It cuts out a lot of the road noise.
With the top up, mine is quieted to the point that I'm hearing the wind noise from the side mirrors (TA, so Camaros might be quieter there), which is frustrating, but there's not much I can do, except maybe go to C5 mirrors. And I'm not yet ready for that.

For the C5 side mirrors, you remove the stock mirrors and put a plate over that triangular area. Then the C5 mirros can be mounted on the doors (with reinforcing in the door panels). See rides.webshots.com/album/125507427dYjgOR for some shots of a TA with this done.
