Default help on installing...

i bought a radio on ebay.

1 part has wires and it has an end that goes into the radio, then it has a box with an inline fuse?? and then it finishes into another end that has that.

do i cut that box off there in the pic above, then match up the colored wires?

i never seen a wiring harness to a radio that has 2 end, 1 for the back of the radio, then the other that looks to connect directly into something, where as i need to splice wires...look old school.

so to summarize, do i cut that box off and splice like normal?

You've got the wrong harness adapter. The one you need is 70-1858. It's not strictly necessary to use a harness adapter - you could cut off the end and splice - but it makes a much cleaner installation. Splice the wires from the radio to the 70-1858 adapter harness then your aftermarket radio will just plug in to the factory harness. That way you can take out your radio by just unplugging it and you can easily go back to stock (say, if you sell the car).

One of the two harnesses that came with the radio should plug into the radio. Buy the 70-1858 adapter harness and splice it to the harness that plugs into the radio. This will make a kind of "cross-connect" adapter harness with the radio plug on one end and the GM-style plug on the other. Then just plug one end into the radio and the other into the factory harness in the car.

If neither harness fits the radio then you will have no choice but to cut off the plug. I still recommend getting the 70-1858 harness and splicing it to the radio wires after the plug is removed.

Oh, and the wire labeled "brake" has to go to the parking brake switch to enable video only when the parking brake is engaged.

the radio came with one harness.

one end connects to the radio, and on the SAME harness, this is the other end.

1 harness, 2 ends, 1 for the radio, and then the other is that box in that pic.

do i cut that box off?

Yes, cut off the extra plug (the end that doesn't plug into the radio).
