New Head Unit suggestions
I just would like some suggestions for an affordable, simple to install system. I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks. For speakers, you can go to the store and get some Alpines, 6.5/6.5S/6.75 will be your best fitment. You're best off getting some components (try DLS B6A on Ebay), but you'll be better off running your own speaker wire to the front speakers from your deck so you can use the crossovers that come with them, instead of what's built into the Monsoon system. Each speaker system has its own crossover designed for that particular system, so the crossover in the Monsoon system is not generally suitable for other systems.
Alternatively, depending on how loud you want to be able to listen, you can do speakers the cheap way. You can replace just the woofers with woofers, and not buy a speaker system. If your tweeters are still good (they probably last longer), and the sound of them doesn't bother you, you can try a couple of these in the front: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=299-603 --- or you can go even cheaper if you just want something that works: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/ind...22514&pid=1927 - I know 5.25" will fit, but I'm not sure if it will need a spacer ring (WhiteBird?)
If your subs are bad as well, I believe these should fit with a spacer: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-832 - or you can go for the ED EU-700 that a lot of people here like, though it costs a bit more.
Oh, and if your hatch speakers are bad, just unplug them and don't replace them.
