Default Anybody running 15" Subs

I am looking for somebody that may already be running 15" Subs. I have been running an 12" IDMax for a couple of years, I am installing an additional set of 15" IDQ Image Dynamics subs and haven't decided the best approach or placement.

I had 2 15's in the hatch of a camaro. It was very loud. It was a custom box that used all the rear cargo room. It held 2 RF DVC 15's from 1999. I liked it but had to cut some of the iteroir panels to get it to fit. With the subs, the box weighed about 100 pounds.

That box is so wrong, it needs to be angled up.

Yeah, you're going to get mega reflections right back to the subs, not good.

I don't think it looks too bad, other than the reflection issue. It could be prettier, but I've seen much uglier. MUCH uglier.

I don't think an F-body is the right car for that stuff, though.

what do u mean not pretty...what is the ugly thing? i fold the cover over the top of the amps...so no one sees the amps or the wires....all the wires are hidden. Also what do u mean by mega reflections? and would it be better to turn the subs facing the front instead of angling it? and what type of angle?

Angling away from the hump that's going to reflect the sound waves immediately back towards the subs causing all sorts of sound quality issues?

Not that square subs are good for SQ in the first place...

i built a custom box that fit 2 15" subs with an amp sitting on top (and one hidden behind). it fit in the cargo area where the t-top storage is. i just left the t-tops either in the back seat or at home. i angled mine toward the front of the car and got awesome reflection off the rear hatch. i wasn't a fan of no cargo area but those little boxes that JL audio makes for the cubby just aren't big enough for SQ in my opinon...

those 15" sqares need to be re-located. you could probably figure some way to stick them at the bottom of the cargo area. smaller box but not flush with the shelf. you'll lose sound because of cubic inches in the box but gain more from the projection of the sound waves.

Remember the saying "If you can't say something nice THEN SHUT YOUR ^^&%%^ MOUTH.
Probably be better if you explained how to make the install better which I really do not see anything wrong with.
And it would be helpful if you posted pics of your install. So we could see how to do it.
Always remember that you are amoung other members who share the same interests and some are farther along than others. You must have had to start somewhere as did I.

Well, to they guy talking smack about the install and SQ because of the speaker placement, your talking out of your ***! Subs are desighned to fit into tight places, it is not the same as a suround sound in your house, not even close to the same type set up.

I have had several audio set ups , including some in F bodies. I have done simple 2- 12" subs in a f body to 6-15s in a CRX! So until you do better than the guy posting his set up, save your smack talk . Go do some research and learn something about what your talking about.

Thanks man. Also wickedwarlock I can not say it enough. your setup is so nice, and if I didn't want my back for my t-top storage I would also buy subthumps box. To bad the *******(s) had to steal your amp. I wish you could have caught them. To the topic starter I like my placement and sound right now. I am sure that wicked's placement is better, but we all have different needs. Don't forget to take pictures when you are done with the install ToxicTA. Also thanks to you for your comment to them. I just wanted to hear the reasoning behind it, but never got that.

thank you. I'm replacing the stolen 2005 kx2500.1 with a 2006 kx-2500.1. The 2005 kx350.4 is getting replaced with a 2006 kx-850.4. The 3 sets of SS componments didn't have enough power. They will now.

The pioneer avh-p5700 was stolen too. I have the same replacement. I'm pondering on changing it out. I have the same one to replace it from the insurance but not sure if I will keep it.

I have the phoenix gold line driver to boost the pre-amp outputs to 10v. The pioneer lower models are only 2.2 volts. Even all the higher end models or most high end aftermarket is only 5v. So I may just keep it and using that device will convert any to 10v. Should be a big difference.
