Default Humont Wiring Q

I read the threads and found the link to Humont site where it explains the installation. My plug is different from the one shown in the link. Where can you tie the hot wire? I tried the red lead going to the radio, but that is constant power thus, the humont will be constantly lit. Can someone point me in the right direction to wire the humount so when the interior lights are on, it will be on? Is there a way to do it without having to run a long lead of wire? Thanks for the input.

Use the brown wire in the radio harness. That's the dash illumination power lead.

Whitebird, the gutted my wiring harness. The plug for the radio is tied into what appears to be speaker wires. Not sure if they kept everything straight. I ended up running the lead down to the positive lead feeding the lights of the HVAC controls.

Been looking to get one of these and thought I'd revive this thread. My stock radio harness doesn't have a brown cable. It's a '95 car, are the earlier 4th gens different?

All 88-02 GM products with 1.5 DIN radios should have the identical connector. I don't have an earlier schematic with me to check but the brown wire should be there. If you have a wiring harness adapter for your aftermarket head unit, the factory brown wire will be in the pin position that connects with the orange/white wire in the adapter harness.

If for some reason that wire is not present, you can use the grey wire that provides variable voltage from the dash dimmer dial. It connects to the solid orange wire in the adapter harness.
