Default Parking Light Socket Change

What is the part number for parking light socket that you can buy at an autoparts store.

I searched here and the part # 85881 was suggested but when I went to rockauto.com and put in my make, model info it came back with a part # 85867. I am going to the auto parts store today and I appreciate anyones assistance.

85881 is the correct part number. The 85867 can be used but it takes the old 1157 style bayonet bulb. The 85881 takes the correct 3157 wedge bulb.

Thanks-a-million, I saw your post as I was leaving for lunch and went and bought the 3157 and 85881.

Another quick question, I noticed the wires on the stock socket are colored but the wires on the autozone socket are all the same color. Does it matter what colors match what wire.

Oh, that's interesting - the ones I bought had colored leads. The three wires are not interchangeable. One is ground, one is running/parking light power, and the third is DRL/turn signal power. I would assume that the socket itself may have codes stamped next to the wires to identify them. If not, you might have to hook them up based on the left-to-right order from the original and then test to make sure the connections are correct.

BTW, I just noticed that although your user name is UCABlackChevy, your signature shows a TransAm. The sockets are the same but the bulbs are different. Camaros use the clear 3157 bulbs but Firebirds use the 3157NA (natural amber).

Suggestion would be to pay attention to which one was where and put them in the same place they were. For instance if black was in the middle (stock harness) keep it there and green/brown on the left or right, etc. I know it made a BIG difference when I changed out my driving lights.

All right I'll have to match them up in the left - right order....The UCABlackChevy name is just a carryover of the good ole days of what is now my DD truck.

Also you might wanna pick up some dielectric grease, real good for sockets and electricle connects that can get corroaded, which is what I'm guessing is the cause for replacing the socket?[U]
