Does anyone know if there is a way for the radio to shut off when the switch is turned off instead of when you open the door? Basically is there a wire I can cut where the radio will shut off after I cut the switch off. Any help would be awsome.

You can't just cut a wire because it's the main power for the radio. What you could do is cut the yellow power wire and reconnect it to an ignition-controlled source. There is an orange wire coming from the ignition switch that is powered only when the switch is in the RUN position or a brown wire that is powered when the switch is in either RUN or ACCY. Actually, the best place to get switched power would be at the accessory ports in the fuse panel - the one marked IGN would do what you want. Don't use the one marked ACCY because it's the same as what you have now (stays on until a door opens).
I can't for the life of me figure out why you would want to disable the retained accessory power or why it's a problem. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

Thanks for the input I will try that. The reason I want to do it is because I did a dash swap in a 1988 Iroc Z to a 2002 Trans am dash and I can't get the radio to cut off now so thats why I want to do it. I know its kinda weird but it looks awsome

Aren't there door switches in the 1988 IROC that turn the interior lights on/off? Aren't you using the same accessory circuit? I'm confused.

It sounds like you have your radio power and switched wires hooked up incorrectly. You should be able to wire it up in that 88 to work just like it did in an 02, or any other car for that matter.
Now if you are purposely looking for the radio to always have power (even with key off, door open, whatever) then that is different.
No its a complete 4th gen harness. I haven't quite gotten all the wirering done, but I was juts hoping for an easy fix on it until I'm done with it. Got it wokred out now. Thanks for the info guys.
