Actually, it will work. It is 1.5 DIN size and uses the same standard GM harness connector as in an F-body. The side mounting brackets might be an issue but the correct brackets are available from the dealer for about $4 each.
Of course, the illumination color will be wrong for a Trans Am (blue/white instead of red). And there may be extra connectors you won't be able to use depending on the options in the pickup (rear seat audio controls for example).
