put 6x9s on the hatch! will have to custom install! put dynamat in your car and just replace all speakers with decent ones! the dynamat will cut road noise and unwanted vebrations and will help your 6x9s hit like if u had a subwoofer in the back! i have 2 infinity kappa's in my car with full dynamat and its great! with windows closed and no music i cut down my exhaust noise by almost 50%! no bs lol...dynamat is a must in my opinion!!!

infinity 62.7i for the front they been proven to be the best speakers to replace the monsoon fronts there not 4ohm no one makes a 2 way 4ohm so go with the infinity in the fron 2ohms and these can also be used for the sailpanel speakers as well just extend the wire from the amp in the back. the speakers if you have in the hatch there 4inchers they can be replaced with anything and the speakers in the sailpanels and front are already crossovered so dont use the cross over just make you use the right inputs . and the speakers in the fron run of the hu monsoon deck in the front and power from the amp in the back the sialpanel speakers as well but they mosty draw from the amp in the back along with the 4ichers !

i dunno if you're refering to my post, but i run an aftermarket Amp and Headunit. so the ohms should be different.

We are talkin about a stock application.

Still trying to find an inexpensive set of component speakers. The Infinities have been labeled as "bright", which isn't really what I'm looking for. Would settling for the SPS-170A's really make that much of a difference?

Well the Infinity Kappa's were designed to produce brilliant highs and still cover the mid range which they do very well. If you just want to “bump” then you need to remember that you are going to start vibrating all kinds of stuff and it may not be the best idea out of the front door where all that stuff is just a few inches from your ears. The Dynomat post was right on the money but if you don’t have the $ to do it then that’s that. I would recommend the Kappa’s for anyone that wants clean, clear, hasp free sounds. By hasp I refer to that ear piercing static noise you get from speakers when ever a singer sings a word with an S in it. That is my biggest audio pet peeve.

I am the farthest thing from an audiophile but I do know acoustics seeing as how I am an acoustics engineer. If you want very clear highs and good mid range then the Kappa is the way to go for the price. I got all of mine on eBay for $100 or less each after shipping. If you want to custom mount the rear hatch speakers just drill a few holes under the speaker covers and you will never see them, or just remove the speakers from the equation, it’s up to you.

I went with the Kappa’s because I had fully planned to go 4ohm in the entire car via two four channel amps and then installing a 10” sub in the stealth box. I had a completely Infinity system in my last car, which was not an F-body, and had people in the car audio business comment on how clean the sound was. That is what I was going for in my WS6. Loud is only good if you can hear the words.

There are infinite combos out there for subs, speakers, amps and opinions so what you need to do is research SNR, frequency response and if you can get your hands on output curves for the speakers. With that you can always see what speakers generate the best response to the frequencies you want to highlight. Just keep in mind that the Monsoon system needs to be nuked if you truly want good car audio.

How about a set of Alpine SPR-17LS's for the front,

and a set of Kenwood KFC X1700's for the rear.

I've got a friend selling me a 10" stealth sub, so all I'd need after that would be a sub.

How's that sound?

I've already heard it in a friends car (whom I'm buying it from) and it sounds fine to me. You've gotta remember, I'm not going for killer base or a killer setup, just something relatively stock that puts out more sound. I'm coming from a setup filled with blown Monsoon speakers. Anythings an upgrade.

I also don't want to fill up my t-top location, or any other storage area. The stealth box fits where nothing else goes, so I might as well use it.

Just wondering if anyone had any input on those Kenwood and Alpine component speakers I mentioned in my previous post. I just bought them.

You'll be happy. The Monsoon system is total crap so anything will be an improvement. Good luck.

What amp will you run to get the sub going? Don't get something too powerful of you will saturate the lower frequencies.
