Default Need help picking out a stereo!!!

Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 black trans am from a guy here on ls1 tech. I'm thinking of keeping the car more or less stock, but would like to get a screen some thump. I'm probobly going to go with the Jensen VM9312 Tch Scrn 7 and am thinking either 1 12 inch JL W3 or Audiobahn flame series 12 inch (2) or maybe 1 Alpine type r. I have no idea what amp I'll use or the capacitor. Likewise, I don't know if I can keep all the other speakers the same, or if I need to change them? My main problem, however, is I am trying to keep it relatively lightweight, since I know systems can get very heavy, which is why I might only go with one sub, but at the same time I still want it to melt faces on rap, but at the same time sound good with rock or country music if I wanted to turn the subs down. I listen to a variety of music and want it to be able to sound good no matter what I'm listening to. I love the t-top storage area and want to be able to use that still, so if anyone has any ideas as to what I should do please let me know. Also, what do you guys thing about cutting it into the floor and laying it flush with the carpet?
Thanks for any help you can give me
-Brian

I think you just described a subwoofer that doesn't exist.

Well you want "face melting" rap, but you also want it to sound good. Possible. But you also don't want to use the trunk for a box, which limits you to a stealth box (unless you put it in the back seat). Stealth box is only .6 cubic feet and you aren't getting face melting rap from a 10 or 12 in a stealth box. I'm sure a bunch of people will come in here and say "oh my stealth box sounds great people think I have two 15s all the time." Totally wrong.

If you open up the possibility to using the trunk and storing your t-tops in the back seat or something, then you will definately be able to put together a system with face melting rap, but great sounding rock/country too

Ya, I was looking into a stealth box, do they not hit very hard? I mean I'm not going to competitions or anything, just looking to bump, but at the same time not be crazy when I want to listen to rock or country. What about that area in front of where the t tops go?...would that not be a good place to put a sub or two? I'm new to the world of trans ams so I'm trying to learn, and my first thing will be a stereo. So thanks for your help.

ttt...what about cutting a hole in the area in front of the t-top storage area, and putting a sub flush with the floor...that or I was thinking one or two stealth boxes in the back?

If you don't need your gas tank, go ahead and cut a hole there

I'd recommend you search around a little bit. This topic has been covered many many times. After you search around and get a better idea of what you want to do, then it will be easier for others to offer suggestions.

You also need to set a budget for yourself.
