Finally Decided On My Sound Setup... So I had been trying to figure out the best way to mount dual 10" subs in a way that would allow them to sound good, be relatively out of sight, but still leave me the use of my t-top well as well as have the ability to pull it out when I go to the track. I decided to build myself a custom box that would have JUST under 3 cu. ft and I'm going to put it on the rear platform, and the "top" will be slightly angled (15.2 degrees) towards the back. In it I'm going to put two JL Audio 10w3v2-d4s, because I REALLY want something with good sound quality over SPL. I'm mounting two amplifiers, a set of cross overs, and, if I can fit it, a 2.4 Farad Capacitor on one of the "extended" amp racks from Subthump. I've already cut out the base of the box, but now what it's coming down to is ported or sealed enclosure... what do you guys think? I have plenty of room for both, and I know that a sealed box typically provides tighter bass and "renders" it more accurately, but this is going to really be the only source of true bass for my system. Both my door speakers and my sail panel speakers will have crossovers, and possibly even my 4" speakers in the rear. Anyone have any experience with the JL 10wv2's in sealed vs. ported enclosures? As long as you feel comfortable tuning/whatever a ported box - and if your box size is fixed at 3 cu.ft., might as well go for it - since that's a pretty large enclosure for 2 sealed 10W3v2's.
I put a stealth drivers box in my car yesterday and put a Fosgate P2 in it, and It hits harder than I was expecting. I like the clean look.Nobody knows it's there until I turn it on.
