Car audio help Hey guys,
Im just gonna go ahead and say when it comes to car audio, I have no idea whats going on. I searched for what I was looking for, but I could not find it.
Anyway, I just bought my SS less than a week ago and I want to get something than I can use my ipod with. The guy I bought the car off said the front two speakers arent working and its a problem with the stock head unit, because he put another one in and everything worked fine.
I dont mind getting a new head unit, I had an eclipse in my z28 and I really liked that. Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent head unit I can use my ipod with and that isnt too flashy? Ive been looking, but honestly I am not really sure what to get and I dont wanna spend money and then get the wrong thing, I guess Im looking for something around 200-300.

Personally, I'm a fan of most of the stuff Pioneer/Premier Audio make, but there are plenty of other brands out there with good HUs (Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse, etc.). I've recently been looking at the Pioneer DEH-6900UB, primarily for it's ability to function with USB drives because you can store your data on them, as well as update backgrounds and stuff with jump drives. Pretty much any $200-$300 headunit will have iPod capability, you just need to make sure it has AUX input, and some of them require interfaces to work with the iPod specifically. Some will actually allow you to browse your iPod files from the headunit itself, while keeping your iPod in the glove compartment or wherever you wire the cable to. The Premier DEH-690UB, which is basically the same thing as the Pioneer I mentioned earlier, is $20 more than that pioneer, but it includes the ipod control capability. I like it personally because it doesn't look too flashy, but looks nice when turned on. If I end up getting one, I'll let you know how they sound. Good luck man!
